AhlulBayt News Agency: Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich escalated his rhetoric on Sunday regarding the ongoing military operation in the Gaza Strip, declaring that his government intends to occupy the territory permanently rather than conduct a temporary operation as in the past.
Smotrich stated that the previous policy of entering and withdrawing from Gaza is no longer acceptable, emphasizing that this is a war for victory. He asserted that once the ground incursion begins, Israeli forces will not withdraw from the areas they control, even in exchange for detainees.
These remarks come amid internal disagreements within the Israeli government regarding the objectives of the war. Meanwhile, international pressure continues to mount, urging an end to military operations that have resulted in thousands of civilian casualties in the besieged Strip over the past six months.
